GT World Series 2026 Tokyo: Drumont Dominates, Porsche Perfect (2026)

The 2026 Gran Turismo World Series resumed in Tokyo, but the atmosphere was noticeably different without a live audience. The event, held at Polyphony Digital's headquarters, lacked the usual excitement and energy of a live race. Tom Brooks and Jimmy Broadbent called the races from off-camera, which resulted in a lack of on-screen chemistry between the presenters. Despite the circumstances, the racing was still intense and competitive. The Manufacturers Cup saw Takuma Sasaki's Porsche 911 GT3 R dominate in the rain at Fuji International Speedway, while the Nations Cup was a triumph for Kylian Drumont, who swept the event in Tokyo. Drumont's performance was particularly impressive, as he controlled the race throughout and took the flag in the Grand Final. The result reshuffles the championship entirely, with Drumont now leading the points standings. The next round in Singapore promises to be more familiar, with a real, ticketed crowd and the debut of the Regional Cup. In the meantime, Polyphony has some exciting announcements in store, including the introduction of two "Stealth Model" cars and an upcoming update for Gran Turismo 7.
